Knitting Camp 2010: Knit One Below- One Stitch, Many Fabrics!

Friday, July 9th through Tuesday, July 13th

With all of these below-zero wind chills keeping us bundled up this month, wouldn't you rather be knitting at our annual Summer Knitting Camp in Bradford, PA? I sure would! Hopefully that wonderful weekend will be here before we know it!!! Our camp is a once-a-year opportunity to eat, drink and socialize for four days and three nights with your closest and soon-to-be-closest knitting girlfriends in the most comfy un-camp-like setting of the dorm rooms at the University of Pittsburgh!

The fee for Camp is $450 per person, which includes classes, handouts, most of your materials (you will need to provide your own knitting needles) and all meals except for Friday evening. Lodging is in air-conditioned dorms with two people per room and six per suite. University facilities are all non-smoking. Students are accepted on a first-come basis with a paid-in-full application. (No deposits please). I will make a waiting list available, but if you need to cancel for any reason, it will be your responsibility to fill your slot.

For camp this year we are celebrating a new book by XRX called One Row Below. It is a clever technique where you create a fun, color-changing and interesting textured effect with your knitting by knitting into the row below the row you have previously worked. Its the perfect technique for a variety of projects like scarves, socks and vests, so for this years camp, we will be making...scarves, socks and vests!! As an added bonus, we have requested the trunk show that goes along with the book, so before you knit anything, we will be having a preview party the Friday night before camp begins where you all can see and try on all the samples!!! It is always my goal to come up with a camp topic that is both new and exciting for the well-seasoned knitter, and yet not too challenging-scary for the advanced beginner! I want to make sure that everyone learns something new and has fun!

*I would like everyone to have a copy of the book Knit One Below for this camp (its a GREAT book)! If you would like me to order you a copy, please let me know on your registration form -thanks. The weekend promises to be great fun, as always. Hope you will join us! -Erin Kosich
